Biology, both within us and in the atomic world, is constructed from materials synthesized in stars and the entire living world is centered around the Sun, either directly or metaphorically. Besides the sun organisms also need water and food, sometimes companionship and impressions. These needs are so universal that they define the essence of being alive.
